Dungannon District lies in the southern half of County Tyrone, right in the heart of Northern Ireland. It is a rural area surrounded by breathtaking countryside. The district boasts a wide range of activities, activities and places of interest to suit all tastes; bustling market towns, forest parks, stately homes and gardens, country walks, theatres, museums and waterways are just some of those on offer. And with its prime location in the heart of Northern Ireland, Dungannon District is also an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the province and the Reublic of Ireland.
The area of Dungannon District is 315 square miles with a population of over 48,000. The east of the district is bordered by Lough Neagh and County Armagh with County Fermanagh bordering the west, County Monaghan the south and the Sperrin mountains to the north. The district main town is Dungannon and there are a number of towns and smaller villages.

The closest stations to the district are Portadown in County Armgh and Derry City in County Londonderry
Pick up a Freedom of Northern Ireland pass, and you can get one day's unlimited bus and rail travel for just £14. Three days travel (in an eight day period) costs £34 and seven days travel costs £50 - children under 16 are half price. Tickets available from all main bus and railway stations.

Temperate climate generally cool with frequent cloud and rain throughout the year, but also spells of settled, fine weather. Summer temperatures average 18 degrees celcius. In winter, snow can be expected but only a few inches.

General opening hours are 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday. Some larger Stores, supermarkets and shopping Centres open from 1.00 to 6.00 on Sundays.

Pub opening hours: Mondays - Fridays from 11.00am until 11.30pm: on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays until 12.30am, and on Sundays from 12.30pm until 11pm. Closing time on the eve of public holidays is 12.30am. Currently smoking is allowed in pubs and bars in Northern Ireland but not in the Republic of Ireland.
